Things to do in the Skocjan caves tour.

On the tour of the Skocjan Caves, you walk through two substantial underground caves. The first cave you visit, known as a silent cave, features several stalactites, stalagmites, and other limestone shapes.

The limestone formations grow at slow rates. Don't miss the enormous stalagmites in the great hall at the end of the silent cave. In the quiet cave, your guide will tell you a wealth of information about the cave's history, geology, flora, and fauna. Your local guide points out some bats as you walk through the cave.

The second cave got named the murmuring cave, an exciting place to discover. The cave should also be known as the thundering cave because the Reka river is so loud, and your guide might warn you that no commentary will be best in this cave. In the murmuring cave, you will cross the Cerkvenik bridge high up in the cave, and from that bridge, you can look down at the river frothing and roaring along the cave.

At the end of the second cave tour, you appear out into the Velika Dolina village through a natural opening in the hillside. It is the only place where photography is allowed.

From here, the elevator takes you back to the visitor center. The way to the elevator is beautiful. Along the way, you can enjoy a waterfall, lush greenery, wildflowers, and many more. Things to know before you visit Skocjan Caves.

You can only visit Skocjan caves with an official guided tour. Three tours are possible for visitors, and while the Skocjan cave tour is a must-do, you can add on more terms if you want to. The cave tour lasts for two hours. It starts at the visitor center, where you walk down to the main manufactured entrance. Commentaries are in several languages, including Slovenian, Italian, and English.

Each group is divided into mini-groups, depending on the language you choose. For example, you can select a language of your choice, Slovenian or English, and each group enters after 10 minutes of intervals. After that, you have to wait for your turn to enter.

Stay close to the guide so that you can enjoy the commentary. The tour guide didn't use any gadgets, but they tried to speak loudly and clearly.

Photos are not permitted anywhere in the underground cave other than at the exit, where you emerge after the tour. The temperature in the cave tends to be excellent, even on hot days. Visitors must carry a light sweater or jacket and comfortable shoes with a good grip. Also, Bring a waterproof jacket and a hat to Skocjan caves.

The restaurant at the visitor center is an excellent option for lunch or snacks. You can also eat in nearby divača. Osterija "Na Planinci" offers traditional Slovenian food. For pizzas, visitors must try Pizzeria Etna, it has the best quality ingredients and lots of options. They also have many vegetarian dishes on the menu.

Buy Skocjan caves tickets at the visitor center at the park and arrive about half an hour earlier if you want a real slot on the first tour; otherwise, lines can get long.
