The local cuisine is one of the experiences I like to join when I visit the city for the first time. So I made sure that It’s here too.
According to studies, the most important to travelers are where they're going to sleep and what they eat.
The local cuisine is part of the language, part of geography, part of the tradition, and a part of history. They never talk only about the food, they have to mention areas that go with it.
Without more preface, let’s dive in and see what is on the menu for this experience.
The Tour
This experience starts at The Triple Bridge. That is the center of the Ljubljana Old Town. You can see 3-bridges in a pedestrian zone and a tourist information center.
The English-speaking local guide will take you on the tour where you’ll sample 9 different dishes and 4 different wines. In various types of restaurants in central Ljubljana, your local guide will share with you different stories.
Slovenia is a small and very diverse country. This can be seen in the food too. You can expect to eat sausages (Kranjska Klobasa), cured meats, local vegetables, and burek. You have 3 major types of burek. Pizza burek, Cheese Burek, and a meat Burek. Vegetable burek also exists but it’s often out of order.
Your tour's last stop will be on the Neboticnik Skyscraper. On top of it is a terrace with the restaurant, which has the most beautiful view of the Ljubljana Castle.
This tour is perfect for families, young couples, and also solo travelers. You won’t be hungry or thirsty.
