Why with the Pony Bike?
The pony bike (in the picture above) is a small traditional Slovenian city bike. It’s built to navigate among the crowds on a small Ljubljana street.
The bike is foldable and has a surprisingly big comfortable seat. The ride is very smooth. The Old Ponies manufactured in the Ljubljana factory ROG were made of steel and were heavy as the new Ponies today are made out of Aluminium and very light.

City Bike Ljubljana

Today you will see many more “regular” city bikes on the streets of Ljubljana than Ponies for 2-main reasons.
The Ljubljana factory ROG closed its door in 1991. So the production stopped after 65 years. In 2017 the factory reopened in the other location, but there is still a 21-years gap left behind.
The regular city bike is roughly half as cheap and half as big as a Pony bike.
The only thing that all types of bikes have in common is theft. In the cities, all tend to vanish if not watched against it.
